5th Grade Science
Science Sept 12-16
OBJECTIVE WHAT SHOULD STUDENTS KNOW AND BE ABLE TO DO? |
LESSON DESCRIPTION WHICH ACTIVITIES AND STRATEGIES WILL HAVE THE GREATEST IMPACT ON LEARNING? |
ASSESSMENT or ASSIGNMENT HOW WILL STUDENTS DEMONSTRATE MASTERY? |
|
MONDAY 9/12 |
Students should be able to define matter and know how we classify matter. |
Students will define the following words in their interactive science notebook: matter, temperature, liquid, relative density, volume, solid, gas, solubility. Science will also put matter information sheets in their interactive notebook. |
Students will demonstrate mastery by teacher checking their workbook definitions. |
TUESDAY 9/13 |
Students will learn the different physical properties of matter. |
Students will watch a video over the physical properties of matter. Students will then read aloud in class over the physical properties of matter and then participate in a class discussion. |
Students will demonstrate mastery through a class discussion over the video and what was read. |
WEDNESDAY 9/14 |
Students will talk about the three states of matter. |
Students will put an information sheet about the three states of matter in their interactive math workbook. Students will have an interactive assignment on the three states of matter. |
Students will demonstrate mastery by completing a drawing with examples of each of the three states of matter. |
THURSDAY 9/15 |
Students will review the scientific method. Students will make a hypothesis about the experiment we will conduct on the states of matter. |
Students will complete a review for the upcoming science test. Teacher will review with students to make sure they have the correct answers. |
Students will demonstrate mastery by correctly answering questions orally during the test review |
FRIDAY 9/16 |
Students will be able to recognize the three states of matter in an experiment. |
Students will conduct an experiment about the three states of matter using ice cream and a soda. This will show them the examples of each of the states of matter. |
Students will demonstrate mastery by analyzing data and completing a summary sheet on their experiment. |
