Welcome to Fourth and Fifth Grade ELAR!!

Dear Students and Parents of Fourth and Fifth Graders,

This is continues to be a stellar year!  The "Fabulous Four," Mrs. Alderman, Mrs. Null, Ms. Pierce, and myself, are continuing this school year with our motto is, "THIS is Your Year!"  Your new year to start fresh, your year to be the best YOU, your year to overcome struggles you may have, your year to express kindness and consideration for others and to receive the same in return, your year to set goals for yourself and then to far exceed meeting them!  THIS is Your Year!  And we, as your teachers, continue to wholeheartedly commit to being all we can be so we can assist you in being as successful as you can possibly be. 😊

We continue to only read books we enjoy!  That's right!  And we work hard to help you find those "just right" books for you.  Parents, we encourage you to team read with your child(ren) at times in order to keep their inerest and make it more enjoyable for all.  We will be reading for points and prizes throughout the year!  And we work hard to help you meet your goals.  We welcome donations to our class library, also, so parents, if you or someone you know would like to donate any books at various reading levels.  The students are working toward accomplishing their personal goals in reading and earning the ice-cream sundae party closer to the end of the year.  Each child's cupcake is on the wall showing their great reading goal accomplishments that is personalized for each student.  Thank you for your continued support at home, parents!

Our bulletin board this month is emphasizing our "Sweet Reads!"  Each child had their picture made with their favorite book they have read this year.  If you have a moment to stop by, please be sure to check it out near our classrooms!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me a text through our Remind app, call the office at 254-576-2359 to leave a message, or email me at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Mrs. Woodall

 "All About Mrs. Woodall"

Many of you are already familiar with who I am, but for those who do not know my background, I will take this opportunity to tell you a bit about myself.  I was born in Fairfield, Texas, moved to Denver, Colorado before my third grade year, and lived in Denver/Littleton until my junior year in college.  I attended Columbine High School and Colorado Women's College, where I majored in Elementary Education. I moved to Austin, Texas at that time, and attended The University of Texas, where I graduated with a BA in 1984.

I met and married the best guy in the world (no kidding!) who is a 1974 Hubbard graduate, Ricky Woodall, in 1985, and we moved to Hubbard the next year.  After ten years, we were blessed with the birth of our son, Luke, in 1995.  He graduated from Hubbard High School in 2014, received an Associates degree at MCC, and completed his bachelor's degree in Business from Tarleton State University.  He currently teaches 7th grade history at Rapoport Academy in Waco.  Our grandson, Nixon, was born July, 2021, and just celebrated his second birthday!  He is one of the greatest blessings in our lives!

My husband has been a design engineer, after which time he became a youth pastor for five years at First Baptist Church, Hubbard, and then the pastor there for five more years.  At that time, we went overseas and served in Central Asia, where we spent almost six years.  We mainly did humanitarian aid work with disabled children and their families and also worked with the local church there.  We enjoyed this experience very much, and have a great love for the people of that area.  Since returning, we served three years at Navarro Mills Baptist Church, as Pastor and family, then were led back to Hubbard twelve years ago, where my husband once again serves as Pastor of First Baptist Church.  We love our community.

Over the years, my teaching experience has included:  teaching 6th grade for one year at Dawson Elementary; teaching 5th and 6th graders for six years in a combined classroom setting at Corsicana Christian Academy; teaching 3rd grade at Hubbard Elementary for one year; then home-teaching my son, Luke, for six years while overseas.  This will be my 17th year to teach at Hubbard ISD since our return to America.  I taught 5th grade until 2013, then moved to Hubbard Middle School where I taught 6th grade ELAR & Music and 7th and 8th grade English/Language Arts and Reading.  I have now been back at Hubbard Elementary for four years, and I love it!  I feel so privileged to teach at Hubbard ISD and consider teaching my calling in life.

Some of my hobbies include singing, playing the guitar, camping, hiking, and enjoying nature.  I also enjoy teaching very much, and I count it a great blessing to be your child's teacher.

I would be happy to talk or meeting with you if you ever have any questions or concerns about your child.  My contact information is above.  I look forward to meeting you soon!
